New Ransomware Strain Demands Payments of Millions of USD
Recently, companies have faced a new threat in the form of a ransomware attack known as WastedLocker.
The operation behind the attack, known as Evil Corp, has had a history of developing and distributing malware in the past. Ransomware strains such as WastedLocker work by preventing access to files until the victim has paid a price to remove it.
"Typically, they hit file servers, database services, virtual machines, and cloud environments," researchers said.
If a company has fallen victim to WastedLocker, they can expect demands of $10 million or more.
